Let me tell you a delicious native food from Betawi tribe who live in Jakarta, Indonesia. The food is called Rangi Cake or ‘kue rangi’.
It is basically a mixture of tapioca flour and grated coconut which is baked on loaf baking pans. Once it is cooked, the top is smeared with mixture of brown sugar mixed with sago flour.
Rangi cake seller goes around the housing complex and he uses firewood to bake the cake and preserve the unique smell of it. Therefore it’s best to be eaten while still hot because when it’s cool the texture will be stiff.
I love rangi cake very much and so does my daughter. We both could eat a lot of this traditional cake again and again!
